JAMIE CARROLL

Local Business Leader, Jamie Carroll, Assumes Patron Role for SKWAD

Sutherland Shire, March 11, 2024 – For decades, the community has been the focus of my values and actions. We have supported numerous charities and organisations, ranging from the Miranda Musical Society to various schools, Lions, and Rotary clubs. The accolades received, including the prestigious John Richardson Award from the Sutherland Shire Lioness Club for my work in the community, and recognition from law enforcement for my role in initiating community awards, stand as proud milestones in my journey.

Now, as I reflect on the legacy of service, my focus shifts to a cause close to our hearts: supporting individuals with disabilities. For the past two decades, our family has been intimately involved in the disability community through our daughter, Georgia. It is with deep empathy and humility that I embrace the opportunity to serve as a patron for Endeavour Special Kids With A Disability (SKWAD), an organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities. SKWAD provides resources for and promotes the largest and one of the most longstanding Support Units in the Shire. The high school years inform students future participation in the wider community.

After dedicating 35 years to serving the Shire through our small business, I recognize that our life experiences have uniquely positioned us to offer support to those embarking on similar journeys. While we initially sought to give our children a different life, the profound joy and perspective they've brought into our lives have been immeasurable. However, we acknowledge the challenges that come with the daily responsibilities of caregiving.

The 13-year partnership between Endeavour Sports High School and SKWAD exemplifies the spirit of community and inclusivity that defines the Sutherland Shire. Endeavour’s Support Unit welcomes students from across the area. Personal excellence, diversity and inclusion is promoted across all faculties. By supporting an organization committed to enhancing learning resources and fostering inclusion, we hope to contribute to better outcomes for all members of our community, particularly those within the Endeavor High School family.

As we embark on this new chapter of service, I extend much gratitude to SKWAD for entrusting me with this role. Together, we are inspired to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families.
